ABOUT LUKE

Beyond the conventional approach

Luke is not a traditional mastering engineer.

His approach is deeply shaped by his musical background and rooted in an audiophile listening culture. For him, the process is about pursuing the purest and most authentic sound possible.

He does not primarily listen in terms of loudness or frequency spectra, but in space, fundamentals and the distribution of energy.

Transients, foundation and dimensionality are not secondary aspects — they are the basis of all music.

His work is not about making music louder or more spectacular.

It is about giving each song exactly what it needs — depth, dimension, clarity and emotional presence.

For him, mastering means balancing energy, defining space and giving a piece its final form.

STUDIO

Form, Depth, Presence

From this philosophy follows that the equipment he uses is the result of many years of consistent refinement.

The entire chain is treated as an instrument in itself — every component, no matter how small, carefully aligned and contributing to the enhancement of the music.

The goal is to ensure that no unit, cable or element in the chain ever compromises fundamentals, dynamics or space.

The result is a small yet highly balanced setup, designed to enrich each song and allow it to grow into its full potential.

For those interested in the technical details, here is an overview of the components used:

  • ATC Scm 45
  • JL Audio E112
  • Knif Soma
  • Knif Eksa
  • Vacuvox U23m
  • Ayre QA9-pro
  • Spl Mercury/ Diamond
  • Motu 8D
  • Habst Digitalcable
  • Signalcable Grimm SQM
  • Monitoring Cable Custom Filtering with Vovox Excelsus

All supplied with separate transformers for the chain and monitoring, as well as filtered power for digital devices. Power cables from Furutech, Oyaide, Kimber, etc.
